Hispanic Business Center Hires New Director

NEOHCC is pleased to congratulate Jonah Weinberg, on being named executive director for the Hispanic Business Center. Jonah will be responsible for leading the activities for the Center, including the Small Business Development Center, the CDBG program and the other economic development opportunities.

Jonah brings a broad base of experience in both the nonprofit public sectors. Most recently he served as Director of Strategic Engagement with Plexus, the NE Ohio Equality Business Association. He has also worked as a consultant with a range of local and regional organizations, including Cuyahoga Arts & Culture, the Ohio Department of Health, and the Jewish Community Federation of Greater Cleveland.

Jonah also brings extensive experience working with Hispanic communities in California and Cleveland. Not only has he worked on bi-national programs between the United States and Mexico, but he also grew up in Costa Rica, where he lived until he graduated from high school, near the capital of San Jose. As such, Jonah is not only fluent in Spanish, but also brings a strong connection Hispanic and Latino culture.

Since arriving in Cleveland in 2007, Jonah has become involved in a broad array of community organizations. He sits on the boards of the Anti-Defamation League, the Housing Research & Advocacy Center, and Plexus. In his new role he will also represent the organization on the board of the Hispanic Alliance. Jonah is an alumnus of the Cleveland Bridge Builders program, and was a winner of the Northern Ohio Area Chambers of Commerce “Bright Star Award.”

Jonah brings extensive knowledge in grant writing and public-private partnerships and I know he is the best person to lead the NEOHCED into the future. We congratulate the board of directors for their excellent selection and we look forward to Jonah’s leadership and impact over the coming weeks and months.  Le deseamos felicidades y buena suerte!
