The Northeast Ohio Hispanic Center for Economic Development (NEOHCED) is committed to equitable asset building in Cleveland’s Latino, and other underserved communities, by providing economic and entrepreneurial technical assistance, training, and advocacy. NEOHCED is home to the only Latino Small Business Development Center (SBDC) in Northeast Ohio. Our Business Advisors specialize in business consulting, identifying capital sources, developing business plans, marketing strategies, strategic planning, business certifications, financial forecasting, business valuation, loan packaging and accounting.

Summary of Position:

The Development & Marketing Assistant is responsible for administrative support to fundraising staff and the fundraising director. The assistant also participates in all fundraising and marketing activities, including donor relations, direct mailings, and special events. In this role, it’s the Development & Marketing Assistant’s responsibility to manage a database documenting fundraising efforts, creating reports on various donors, and working to improve donor relations. Also, manage various marketing channels like social media networks, Google Ads, website content, and email marketing to deliver a persuasive and cohesive marketing message to our audience. Our ideal candidate has experience attracting support for the organization and improving fundraising and marketing efforts.

Primary Development & Marketing Assistant Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the timely acknowledgment of gifts and assure that all types of donations (cash, pledges, matching gifts, and planned gifts) are properly documented. Prepare accurate research on prospects and assemble materials for cultivation and solicitation.
  • Generate clear, action-oriented meeting notes for the department heads.
  • Maintains donors’ physical and digital records
  • Assist with the writing and editing of appeals, acknowledgments, donor news, reports, and proposals. Manage the development database and run reports as needed. Maintain all development records and data and ensure their accuracy and usefulness, for both developing and analyzing strategy.
  • Manage a schedule of grant proposals, reports, and donor communications.
  • Develop and manage periodic fundraising mailings and track and evaluate results.
  • Collaborate with various departments to plan and execute special events. Communicate with donors in person, on the phone, and by email.
  • Monitoring, managing, and posting on social media.
  • Create Marketing Materials such as flyers, posters, content posts, etc.
  • Create events/manage Eventbrite.
  • Create newsletter
  • Answers phones and response to emails
  • Maintains Development Director’s calendar and sends out reminders of impending appointments.
  • Types up reports and letters as requested.
  • Assists in planning and overseeing special events.
  • Assist with translation Makes reservations for off-site business meetings.
  • Reserves conference rooms and equipment for in-office meetings and presentations
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma/GED equivalent.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in communications or public relations (highly preferred)
  • Experience in fundraising and securing donors for an organization or nonprofit group
  • Fluent in Spanish and English (i.e., speaking, reading, and writing)
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a professional environment preferred. 1 to 3 years of administrative experience

Required Skills and Competencies 

The specific personal traits required to accomplish the essential duties of this job successfully include:

  • Candidates must possess excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, & PPT.
  • Very strong interpersonal skills and professional demeanor. Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Must have the ability to organize and manage multiple projects.
  • Must be able to work independently and without direct supervision while still driving results. Must possess excellent phone etiquette.
  • Must have reliable transportation.

Physical and Travel Requirements 

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Prolonged periods of walking and standing.
  • Must be able to lift to 20 pounds at times.
