POSITION SUMMARY

The MBAC Business Advisor is responsible for providing direct, in-depth client consulting, business research and assistance in preparing business and strategic plans, identifying suggestions for alternative courses of action and maintaining the confidentiality of client information.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Interview and assess client need and develop action plan
  • 75% of time will be engaged to in-depth consulting to clients. 25% will be devoted to providing essential MBAC services to the public and administrative support.
  • Work closely with the MBAC director and/or agencies to facilitate the operation of the MBAC.
  • Attend training sessions for business advisors to facilitate ongoing knowledge and ability to provide in-depth consulting.
  • Attending training sessions for business advisors to facilitate on-going knowledge and ability to provide in-depth consulting.
  • Assist in planning and marketing seminars, training sessions and conferences.
  • Community involvement including public speaking as needed or directed.
  • Participate in training events as an instructor or moderator, as needed or directed
  • Assist in efforts to evaluate the effectiveness and impact of training events.
  • Ensure timely and accurate counselling data input into the client information management system.
  • Assisting in efforts to evaluate the effectiveness and impact of training events.
  • Other duties as assigned by the MBAC Director.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, economics or related field preferred, or a minimum of five years of experience in business ownership and operations, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be acceptable.
  • Demonstrated involvement with the Hispanic community.
  • Fluent in Spanish and English (i.e., speaking, reading, and writing)
  • Receive Certified Business Advisor (CBA) certification within 6-months of hire.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

The specific personal traits required to accomplish the essential duties of this job successfully include:

  • Candidate must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must have interpersonal skills.
  • Must have strong analytical and innovative skills.
  • Must have experience with Debt & Equity Finance.
  • Must have general knowledge of economic development finance programs.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of lending practices and access to capital requirements.
  • Experience in providing technical assistance/guidance to small businesses.
  • Ability to manage a multitude of tasks and responsibility successfully.

PHYSICAL AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Frequent local travel and some national travel required.
  • Possess a valid Ohio Driver’s License and ability to travel throughout NEOHCED’s footprint.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
